LEVEL Workspace Is Now B Corp Certified!

LEVEL is officially a certified B Corp. And I want to tell you why that matters to us — and why it should matter to you if you're looking for someone to advise on your next office.

We Built LEVEL to Be Different. Now It's Independently Verified.

When I started LEVEL in February 2022, the pitch was simple. We work for tenants. Only tenants. No landlord contracts, no buildings to fill, no split loyalties. Four years in, that model has earned us the trust of over 100 companies across the UK.

B Corp certification takes that promise and puts it under a microscope.

B Lab, the independent non-profit behind the certification, assessed us across governance, workers, community, environment, and customers. This isn't a badge you apply for and receive in the post. It's a rigorous, externally verified audit of how your business actually operates - legally, operationally, and ethically.

We passed. And I'm proud of that, because it means our values aren't words on a website. They're baked into how we make decisions every day.

Credit Where It's Due

I want to call out Halima Averill specifically. She drove this process from start to finish. B Corp certification requires months of documentation, internal review, and honest self-assessment. Halima took it on and got us across the line. Without her, we wouldn't be writing this post.

Why This Matters in Commercial Property

Here's something most people outside our industry don't realise: commercial real estate influences how you commute, where you eat lunch, how productive your Monday morning feels, and whether your team actually wants to show up. These are decisions that shape people's daily lives.

Yet the advisory firms operating in this space are rarely held to any independent ethical benchmark. Most office brokers work for landlords and tenants simultaneously. The conflict of interest is structural, and most businesses searching for a new office don't even know it exists until they're already locked into a deal that doesn't serve them.

LEVEL's B Corp certification is a direct challenge to that status quo. We've now been independently verified as a business that prioritises people, planet, and long-term outcomes over short-term transactions. In an industry where transparency is the exception, we want it to be the standard.

I hope other firms in our space follow. The bar needs raising.

What This Means If You're Looking for Office Space

If you're a scaling SME approaching your first or second lease, the question of who represents you matters more than you think. Your advisor's incentives determine the advice you get. If they're also working for the landlord across the table, your interests come second. Every time.

B Corp certification requires a business to legally and operationally demonstrate that its decisions prioritise stakeholders over transactions. For a tenant representation firm, that alignment is everything.

So when we tell you we're in your corner, it's not a tagline. It's an independently audited fact.

What Comes Next

Certification isn't an endpoint. B Lab requires continuous improvement — you don't pass once and coast. We'll be reassessed, held to higher standards over time, and expected to keep pushing.

That suits us. LEVEL has never been about standing still. We started with a windowless three-person office in Manchester. We now advise companies across every major UK city. The team has grown, the client list has grown, and the ambition has grown with it.

B Corp is the framework that keeps us accountable as we scale. It's the structure behind the culture we've been building since day one.
